Signing a memorandum of cooperation between the National Library of Palestine and the National Library of Jordan

Amman - National Library: The National Library of Palestine and the National Library of Jordan signed a cooperation agreement, today, Thursday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during an official meeting that included, Issa Qaraqe (head of the National Library of Palestine), and in the presence of Fathi Al-Bis (board member), Fawaz Salama (General Director of Archives and Documentation), and the General Director the National Library of Jordan, Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah.

The signing of this agreement was based on the close historical ties that bind the Palestinian and Jordanian peoples, and in recognition of the importance of the role of the National Library in collecting and preserving intellectual and cultural heritage and making it available to citizens and beneficiaries. The agreement aims to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and joint work, exchange information and professional expertise specialized in preserving intellectual and cultural production and historical documentary heritage, exchange publications, books and documents, prepare various cultural and professional activities, and hold seminars, workshops and conferences in a way that serves the higher interests of their people and their cultural and civilizational heritage.

Al-Ayasra welcomed the Palestinian delegation and expressed his pride in this cooperation and affirmed his commitment in putting all capabilities in the service of the National Library project. Al-Ayasra praised the role and directives of His Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal regarding the necessity of cooperating with the Palestinian Library and institutionalizing this cooperation through official procedures. 

In turn, Qaraqe explained that this agreement enhances cooperation and opens broader horizons for joint work, and strengthens historical ties in preserving shared historical memory, praising the achievements and high efficiency of the Jordanian library in documenting Jordanian memory at the professional, technological and service levels through its pioneering experience.

On behalf of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), Qaraqe thanked his Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, the government and people of Jordan for their consistent stances towards the Palestinian cause. He also thanked Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasra for his willingness to serve the National Library of Palestine project in all aspects, depending on a specialized scientific and professional foundations.
