The National Library of Palestine honors the winners of the Research and Studies Award

Ramallah 19-8-2024- the National Library honored the winners of the “Research and Studies” award for 2023, under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas. 

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Laila Ghannam, the Minister of Culture Emad Hamdan, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Palestine Abd-Alrahim Mezyan, a representative from the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Palestine Mr. Khamis Bin Salem Al-saadi, the Poet Jumaa Al-Rifai representing the Writers Union, and representatives from national, literary, and community institution and organizations. 

The first award was shared by researcher Mahmoud Alwan for his research “The Role of Fine Art in Resisting the Israeli Occupation,” and researcher Mahmoud Ziyad for his research “British Colonial Prisons in Palestine.”

The Second award was shared by researcher Tahseen Yaqeen, for his research “Features and Trends of Palestinian Theatre,” and researcher Donia Al-Amal Ismail for her research “Theater in Palestine: Hope and Challenges.” 

The Third award was shared by researcher Muhammad Al-Batta for his research “Numbered Graves in Palestine,” and researcher Imad al-Asfar for his research “Gypsies in the Palestinian Media.”

The library also honored the family of the martyred prisoner Walid Daqqa as the cultural personality of the year, the family of the poet of revolution Samih Al-Qasem, in addition to three elite poets and writers, namely the martyred poet Salim Nafar, the writer Yahya Yakhlef, and the novelist Mahmoud Shuqair.

It is noteworthy that the award included the fields of: tangible and intangible heritage, arts and history. The participating research was distributed into the following sub-fields: studies in theatre, studies in fine arts, studies in the issue of prisoners and prisons, and studies in the field of archeology, history, architecture and cultural heritage.
